Fashion Merchandising & Buying
A self-made replica of the floor plan of the Hayes Valley boutique, Rand+Statler, this project allowed for the analysis of merchandise placement within the mens department. Additionally, this project enabled reflection on considerations such as ADA compliancy when planning a floor layout.
The initial sketch of a window display in the form of a shadowbox. With the intention of highlighting a social justice issue, this shadow box was to point out how major fashion events in the form of fashion runway lack equal representation of different ethnic groups.
A part-time associate of the Pacific Heights located boutique for French brand Sandro, I regularly re-merchandised the garments according to directives sent from the corporate office. Along with re-arranging the product by themes, I would dress mannequins and photograph them to be sent in an email to corporate to ensure we were abiding by the merchandising guidelines.
Provided with the theme of "Graduation", I brainstormed for concepts to incorporate for the SFSU bookstore window for the month of May. Dr. Seuss's "Oh, the Places You'll Go" is a book that has become a tradition to pass on to recent graduates and folks starting a new chapter in their lives. Rather than do a complete copy of the original cover art, a travel and exploration motif approach was taken with a map and hot air balloon leading graduates into a new journey of life.
